All the seniors are running around frantically trying to get our exhibitions finished. Presentations begin Monday, and I have one of the first blocks! I am busy rehearsing and putting the finishing touches on my labyrinth. This is a both exciting and stressful time of the year. I’m sure things will calm down a bit after exhibition presentations. Wish me luck!

This is a super busy time of the year at Putney, especially being a senior. Exhibitions are wrapping up, and most seniors are cramming before our presentations on Wednesday, May 30. After exhibition presentations we have project week and a whirlwind of senior events before graduation. This is both an exciting and a sad time as the seniors get ready to leave Putney. Graduation is in sight, but as Emily Jones said to the seniors in a senior meeting this morning, many of us have a lot to accomplish between now and then.

Card Burning!

Card burning is a very special tradition for the senior class. 52 nights before graduation we begin to burn a deck of cards, one for each night until the night before graduation. This is a fun time for the seniors to come together before we go our different ways. Here is a photo from last week’s card burning (sorry it’s slightly blurry):

Hi all again it’s been a crazy week and it’s only wednesday. Let’s just say my week has consisted of a lot of coffee, the sound of NPR and my exhibition.  Hour by Hour I’m grinding and cutting my stained glass senior exhibition.  I shiver every time a person mentions there are only two weeks of school left, not only because my last days of Putney are counting down but also because my time to work on my exhibition is becoming shorter and shorter.  But hey! If I don’t sleep that means I have four weeks right?! Haha wish me luck!

The Putney School’s latest building is Field House; it was built 3 years ago.

It contains social space, weight and yoga rooms, basketball court, volleyball court, and rock climbing wall. There are also, table tennis board and ski-waxing room.

Moreover, office of Michael who cares of all school’s health and wellness, and office of Cara who takes care of school facilities and horse barn is in here. Also, Mark’s, awesome maintenance, office is here.

The most interesting fact of this building is that the building is net-zero, which means it produces more energy than it consumes; toilets are not functioned by hydro-system but by composting system, and a number of solar panels makes energy to consume.

On the top of that, this building is designed by students 4 years ago. All the social spaces, offices, weight-room and basketball court is composed by students!!

Here are some pictures of Field House!

Hi All!

Right now as we are approaching graduation it’s time to really start finishing up our senior exhibitions! (Optional senior final projects) Mine is a stained glass project where I am creating three pieces based off of different religions and cultures the first Islam the second Modern art and the third French Nouveau! Although stressful this has been the best project I have ever pursued I suggest every one applies for one!

Last night we were lucky enough to host a group of students from Botswana that are in a world famous Marimba band! About ten of us hosted a student in our rooms and about 50 of us went down to the Latchis theater in Brattleboro to watch the incredible performance. I don’t know if you’ve experienced live Marimba, but it is extremely energetic. Everyone dances in the aisle as the band sweats over their instruments. My roommate, Sylvie, and I were lucky enough to host a girl named Lelo. At Putney, we have many opportunities to interact with teenagers from different countries. Every time I am shocked by the similarities we have. It’s fascinating that almost all teenage girls around the world are consumed by boys and friends. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to host Lelo and hope that I can meet the students from the Maru-A-Pula school again!
